The launch of the fourth session of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival

The fourth edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival kicked off yesterday, Friday, in Morocco, with the participation of 34 films in two competitions for long and short films.

The festival honored actress Hala Sedqi and actor Khaled El Sawy from Egypt, actress Fatima Harandi “Rawiya” and director Hisham El Asri from Morocco, and Tunisian director Reda El Bahi.

After the ceremony, the movie “Al-Buraq”, which was the first feature-length work by Moroccan director Mohamed Mofteker, was shown. He repeated the montage process to show the film with a new vision after about 13 years of its production.

In addition to the official competitions, the festival will display 21 films within the Arab Panorama, most notably the Syrian film “Al-Hakim” by Duraid Lahham, the Tunisian film “The Flower of Aleppo” by Hend Sabry, and the Egyptian film “19 B” by Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sayed.

Also, 12 films will be screened within (Moroccan Panorama), including the documentary “School of Hope” by director Mohamed Al-Aboudi, and the novelist “Enough is Enough” by director Mohsen Al-Basri.

Official competition shows will be held at the Mohamed Zefzaf Cultural Complex, while panorama shows will be held at the Cultural Center of Sabata and the Cultural Center of Sidi Belyut.

The festival program, which runs until June 23, includes training workshops for young people and amateurs, and meetings with the honorees.
