The Lord of the Rings: Director Peter Jackson would prefer to forget the films

The reason why Jackson would like to forget his Oscar-winning films is actually easy to understand: he would very much like to see them, like the fans, “for the first time”. Since he was involved in filming and post-production, that’s not possible.

Even when the “Lord of the Rings” films were shot, he was unhappy that they weren’t “suddenly there” for him, as they were for the general public. “By the time they were shown, I had been into the subject for five or six years. It was such a loss for me not to be able to see them like everyone else,” said the director.

Jackson even wanted to use hypnosis to make him forget the movies. According to him, he spoke to the famous mentalist Derren Brown about it. He quickly had to discard the idea because hypnosis wouldn’t have worked: If you’ve been working on a project for so many years, you can’t even forget it with the help of hypnosis.

The director is now all the more pleased that there will soon be a “Lord of the Rings” series on Amazon Prime Video: “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” starts on September 2nd.
