What happened to Maddie McCann? The question still concerns the world. 16 years after her disappearance, an answer is now emerging.

Braunschweig – Madeleine McCann would now be a grown woman and would probably be studying or working. Maybe she would have ended up in the wide world. As long as she’s still alive. Because what happened to the then three-year-old Maddie in 2007 has not yet been clarified.

The Braunschweig public prosecutor’s office has been certain for years that they have found the person responsible in the 46-year-old German, Christian B. Now she has new, incriminating evidence that should convict him.

The main suspect in the case of the missing Maddie McCann has been in the investigators’ sights since 2020

The suspicion that Christian B. could be behind Maddie’s disappearance is growing. More and more evidence speaks for this. Investigators from Portugal were able to determine that he was logged into the radio network not far from her whereabouts at the time of Maddie’s disappearance. He is said to have accidentally given himself away to a long-time companion. In an exclusive interview with the Bild The acquaintance said that Christian B., while drunk, said about the missing girl that she “didn’t scream.”

Since June 2020, the 46-year-old German, who has been convicted several times for sexual abuse of children, has been officially suspected, according to BildAccording to information, the companion had already expressed his suspicions about Christian B. to Scotland Yard in 2008. In September of the same year, investigating prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said he had evidence of Maddie McCann’s death. Now Wolters follows up.

“Catch something small and use it for days”: Chat messages are supposed to convict Maddie’s kidnappers

Encrypted, pedophile messages from chat histories on the Darknet are said to incriminate Christian B.. “It could be a piece of the big puzzle,” prosecutor Wolters told the British news channel BBC. Under the pseudonym “Wahnsinn-der-holger”, the main suspect apparently wrote to another pedophile: “Catch something small and use it for days, that would be it.”

In addition, “Wahnsinn-der-holger” replied casually to his counterpart’s objection that his plan would have legal consequences for him: “Oh, if the evidence is destroyed afterwards.” The letters “mm” can also be found in his chat messages, which could be a coded reference to Madeleine McCann.

An inquiry through IPPEN.MEDIA The Braunschweig public prosecutor’s office left the question unanswered. In an interview with the BBC, however, Wolters reiterated his suspicion that the missing Maddie was already dead. “I can say that we only have one suspect at the moment. She died in Portugal and we think we may know where it happened.”

In the spring of 2007, Maddie was on vacation in Portugal with her parents and two siblings. On the evening of May 3rd, the three-year-old British girl disappeared without a trace from the apartment at the “Ocean Club” holiday resort in Praia da Luz while her parents were meeting friends not far away. The image of the little blonde girl with wide, gray eyes went around the world, an international search campaign followed, and the trail led back to the Portuguese coastal region of Algarve several times. Nevertheless, Maddie McCann is still missing.

Even after 16 years, Kate and Gerald McCann still have no certainty about their daughter’s fate. The British doctor couple repeatedly emphasized their belief that Maddie was still alive. In the meantime, they even came under suspicion themselves. In November 2022, another arrest warrant followed for Christian B., who is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for rape in a German prison. He is said to have committed this crime in Portugal in 2005. There are currently no charges against him in Maddie McCann’s case. (rku)
