The man who killed his partner and his 5-year-old child this Friday evening in Dendermonde had used cannabis and cocaine

This Friday evening, a 33-year-old man killed his partner and a child in Dendermonde before going to the police on Saturday morning, the East Flanders prosecutor’s office had indicated.

The 30-year-old surrendered himself to the local police around 6:30 a.m. Officers then went to the scene and discovered two corpses, explained Dendermonde police chief Patrick Feys. The companion was 28 years old and the child 5. The femicide and infanticide were committed in an apartment in the Werkplaatsstraat, in Dendermonde. The street was closed to traffic.

The prosecution was unable to provide further information on the circumstances but, this Sunday, we learned that blood tests took place and that the suspect was under the influence of cocaine and cannabis at the time of the events. This was announced by his lawyer at Laatste Nieuws.
