Ms. Lemire is the one who succeeded Robert Gauthier, whose mandate was marked by numerous resignations of employees and volunteers who withdrew from municipal life, including the famous storyteller Fred Pellerin.

In her resignation letter, Ms. Lemire evokes a climate of division.

“I admit that the last year has not been easy. I was elected in a context where there was a lot of anger and frustration. There were many people around me who still bore the wounds of four years marked by dissension, personal attacks, and so on,” she says.

In the last elections, in November 2021, Gina Lemire won 57% of the vote against 42% for her rival, Lucie Hamelin.

Ms. Lemire was first elected city councilor in 2020.

She had given herself the mission of reconciliation and the influence of the village known for its elves and its paparmane tree.
