Today, Thursday, the Minister of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, Benkin Rikani, discussed with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson Richardson, the possibility of implementing the Basra water desalination project.

A statement by the media office of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Rikani met Richardson and expressed the ministry’s aspiration for the participation of British companies in the implementation of projects, including the Basra water desalination project, with a production capacity of one million cubic meters per hour.”
The statement added that the minister said: “The ministry is seeking to strengthen ways of cooperation with Britain, to implement the ministry’s projects in various fields,” noting that “the ministry has new projects in the sectors of water, sewage, roads and housing.”
For his part, the British ambassador expressed his happiness at the meeting, stressing his country’s keenness to support Iraq in all fields.
