A statement by the Ministry of Education, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, “The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, participated as a representative of the Republic of Iraq in the work of the thirteenth session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which was held in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, for the period 14-15. January 2023”.
In his official speech, the Minister of Education said, according to the statement, that “Iraq is part of the international partnership space that anticipates climate indicators, reads the future of energy in this planet, and puts its hand on data that requires a transformation that is not easy in terms of global dealings with the energy horizon in general and its variables in the fields of new energy.” and renewable.”
He explained, “The Iraqi government is working to create innovative and sustainable solutions in order to increase the flexibility of the energy sector in improving the environmental reality, addressing the challenges of climate change, and achieving a positive result within the national sustainable development plan and its goals for the year 2030 in Iraq.”
He added, “Iraq faces challenges in energy and environmental issues, which necessitated that the Iraqi government place diversification of energy sources in the priorities of its interest and the direction of renewable energies as an option and a new opportunity to develop the economy and the transition to a green economy to reduce the effects of climate changes, pointing out that renewable energy represents the gateway to the future.” safe and sustainable for future generations.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, expressed his thanks on behalf of the Iraqi government to the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency for its continuous support for Iraq through holding two workshops in Abu Dhabi and Baghdad, calling at the same time to continue supporting Iraq by initiating the preparation of a readiness report Energy and assistance in preparing plans and mechanisms for the development of human resources working in the renewable energies sector by building their capabilities and providing them with theoretical and applied skills and knowledge according to international training programs.
The work of the General Assembly, whose membership includes 168 countries, witnessed the presence of more than ninety ministers and the participation of more than 1,800 personalities distributed among leaders, government officials, and representatives of international and private organizations and bodies.
