The late artist Zainab Sedky, who is famous for her mother roles, her real name is Mervat Osman Sedky, was born on April 15, 1895, belongs to Turkish origin, married once for 6 months and did not marry

After that, she preferred to live for her art and her audience, and adopted the child Kawthar Hassan Abbas, the daughter of one of the opera workers, and was later known as Mimi Sidqi.

The artist, Zainab Sedky, was known in the artistic community as “Moon of Zamalek” and her most famous words were: “The aristocracy in which I live does not mean that I enjoy wealth, as I only have Ulster, I am not rich, but I like to live the life of kings.

Zainab Sedky had an accident on stage that almost lost her life during the embodiment of the “hanging” in the play “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, which included a girl who hangs herself at the end of the story, and a trick was used to illusion the audience that she is actually being hanged, and unfortunately

Fortunately, the trick failed for mechanical reasons and she almost got hanged, not just acting.
The artist received the merit award for arts from Egypt, then the pioneers award in celebration of the golden jubilee of Egyptian cinema from the Film Association.
the artist

Zainab Sedky has strong friendships with her fellow artists and her life is full of humanitarian situations, including her keenness to bid farewell to the artist, Ferdous Muhammad, her close friend after her departure, and she insisted on washing her herself.

She had a strong friendship with the late artist Suleiman Naguib that spanned more than 20 years.
On January 15, 1955, Zainab went to Suleiman.

She is very affected and has a certain feeling that she will die soon because of the dreams she sees in which she sees death daily, so she was pessimistic about these dreams and felt that her death was near, and Suleiman Najib asked her why she came, and she told him that she wanted to give him her will!

Najib took the matter with Tariqah, and said to her: (It is possible, Zainab, that you are terrified of coming to me for this.. How is this age one.. This is your look that will live in us and we will die), and completed the clowning in order to relieve her and get her out of the state of depression that prevailed upon her, but she insisted on her request and he agrees to receive her will, and indeed Najib agreed after her request

.
On January 18, 3 days after their meeting, “Suleiman Najib” died without any fatigue or diseases, and “Zainab” collapsed upon hearing the news and spent 15 days in intensive care.

It is a strange paradox that Zainab Sidqi fulfilled Suleiman’s prophecy, and her life extended to nearly 98 years, and she spent the rest of her life in the nursing home after retiring from art until her death.

Zeinab Sedky passed away in May 1993, and she is the longest-lived artist of her generation.
