The specialist responded to the TV personality’s desire to send the athlete for rehabilitation to a specialized institution and listed the possible consequences of his stay there.
In January, Lera Kudryavtseva announced her separation from her husband Igor Makarov after 10 years of marriage. The TV presenter said that the reason lies in alcohol, but refused to discuss details. At the same time, Lera clarified that she deliberately talked about problems in the family, but asked the journalists not to bother her. She noted that she is legally married to the hockey player, and there is no talk of any divorce yet. In addition, Kudryavtseva admitted that she sent her husband for treatment.
Narcologist Alexey Kazantsev assessed Makarov’s chances of recovery. “It is no longer possible to cure a person and return him to moderate drinking. Alcoholism is formed for life. But you can break the bad habit – people stay without alcohol for 20-25 years, leading a sober life. And then one drink and again a month-long binge, so there will be no middle ground,” the doctor explained.

The specialist added that, first of all, only Lera Kudryavtseva can help an athlete stop abusing strong drinks. According to him, Makarov expects long-term treatment, which includes working with psychologists, participating in therapeutic groups and communicating with “comrades in misfortune.” Kazantsev urged the TV presenter not to waste time and also take a number of necessary actions. “Often addicts quit, but codependents regularly remind them. Now we need to limit alcohol in the house as much as possible so that a person is not tempted. In this case, the problem is corrected, there are a lot of famous people who were able to return to life,” the narcologist shared. Examples include singer MakSim, Nikita Efremov and Dima Bilan.
Alexey Kazantsev did not deny that addiction could return at any time. According to him, “alcohol knows how to wait,” because a person has biological memory. “At least after 20, at least after 30 years of sobriety. This is a matter of chance and you need to be careful with such a person,” the doctor summed up in a conversation with Woman.ru.
