The National Archives and the National Library celebrated the International Archives Day, which falls on June 9 of each year, as the “archive” is the true incubator of the memory of the nation, and the ideal destination for documenting the past and codifying the present by collecting historical documents from the official authorities in the country and preserving them in the most appropriate place, in order to live long and transmit them. generations.
The celebration of the National Archives and the National Library on this occasion is represented by its participation in a number of specialized events, most notably the “Forum on the Role of Government Agencies in Supporting the Memory of the Nation”, in addition to its participation in the symposium “National Archives in Islamic Countries: Distinguished Experiences and Future Directives” in Riyadh.
The celebrations of the National Archives and the National Library came yesterday, by participating in the virtual conference “Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in Document and Archive Management”, which was organized by the International Council on Archives for its members, through the “TEMS” program, and – related to modern technologies – with a working paper on “Application of Artificial Intelligence.” and block chain in the field of document and archive management.” This participation stems from the importance of emerging technologies and what they will provide in the field of archiving and documentation.
Yesterday, the National Archives and the National Library held a forum entitled “The Role of Government Agencies in Supporting the Memory of the Nation”, which dealt with the role of government agencies in supporting the memory of the nation through organizing and preserving the archive, with a presentation and discussion of distinct actual experiences in the country.
In this forum, Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Director General of the National Archives and Library, spoke about the importance of integrating the archive and the national library, the positive impact on state archives, the provision of documented information to researchers, and the efforts made by the archive and the national library in terms of organizing archives in official bodies and their impact on preserving Historical documents, the role of the archive in rehabilitating archival cadres with training courses, workshops and lectures that are constantly organized by experts and specialists in archival affairs, and the cooperation of the Archives and the National Library with Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University in creating higher academic degrees in archival studies. Al Ali congratulated the International Council on Archives on the anniversary of its founding in 1948, which coincides with the International Day of Archives.
