Washington: Iran’s demands prevent us from reaching an agreement

The United States held Iran responsible for the two sides’ failure to reach an agreement so far on reviving the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, considering that Iran’s demands to lift sanctions prevent progress.

“What we need is a willing partner in Iran,” the United States said in a statement at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors. Specifically, Iran should drop demands to lift sanctions that clearly go beyond the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the nuclear deal), and these demands are now preventing us from reaching an agreement.”

She stressed that Iran must stop demanding the lifting of sanctions unrelated to the nuclear deal.

She pointed out that she wants to return to the nuclear agreement, but Iran must show its intention, indicating that there is no peaceful reason for Iran to produce highly enriched uranium of up to 60%.
