(PLO)- The National Assembly voted to pass a resolution to dismiss Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc from the position of State President and resign from the position of National Assembly deputy at the 3rd extraordinary session, the XV National Assembly.
On the afternoon of January 18, the 3rd Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly took place at the National Assembly House, Hanoi capital under the chairmanship of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
At the session, the National Assembly listened to Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man presenting the report of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the dismissal of the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term and dismissal from office. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, born on July 20, 1954, is a key leading cadre of the Party and State, born into a family rich in revolutionary tradition, received basic training, grew up at the grassroots and was educated at the grassroots level. The Central Committee of the Party, the Politburo, and the National Assembly have assigned, approved and elected many important leadership positions of the Party and State.
As Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 term, he has made great efforts in leading, directing and administering the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control, achieving important results.
However, he was responsible for the political leadership of the head when many officials, including two Deputy Prime Ministers and three Ministers, had violations and shortcomings, causing very serious consequences; Two Deputy Prime Ministers have resigned from their positions, two Ministers and many officials have been criminally handled.
Aware of his responsibilities to the Party and people, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc has applied to resign from his assigned positions, quit his job and retire.

Earlier, on January 17, at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee, the 13th Party Central Committee held a meeting to consider and give opinions on Mr. Phuc, Politburo member, member of the 13th Party Central Committee, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council for the 2021-2026 term.
