The next BioShock would be in its fourth iteration, and the development would be "hellish"

Temporarily titled Isolationthe next game BioShock should come out… A day ? Currently in development at Cloud Chamberthe next installment of the famous saga has not given any news for a while.

On Twitter, the account Oops Leaks revealed some information, explaining in particular that the project would be in “development hell“. The causes put forward are multiple, and if we find the classic Covid-19 pandemicother reasons seem to emerge:

The game was rebooted four timesthe last dating back to the summer of 2022. The place ofIsolation remains the same, but the whole project seems to go through several iterations.
The loi 96, which formalizes French as the sole language of Quebec, seems to have caused complications for many employees. THE turnover is very important.
Many employees are inexperiencedwhether employees or subcontractors.
The team screenplay seems to have a hard time write a story worthy of such a famous franchise“, which resulted in at least one of the reboots.
Even today, the development of the game is not stableand therefore not 100% guaranteed.

This is clearly a bundle of problems which accumulateand do not bode well for the future of BioShock : Isolation. It is also worth remembering that Cloud Chamber is an extremely young studio, founded in 2019, and having no games to his credit. However, we hope that the Quebec teams of the group will eventually overcome these challenges, and we will create a game worthy of the legacy of Irrational Games!

At the end of 2021, this same Twitter account leaked what appeared to be a draft logo, but also a preparatory version of a possible teaser. Assuming that this leak was real, everything suggested that this new episode of BioShock was close to an announcement; obviously, the repeated reboots will keep us waiting a little longer. The output window of fiscal year 2025 seems possible but unlikely, especially if Cloud Chamber hasn’t stabilized his baby properly yet. Assuming that things are going well, one could nevertheless hope to first images end of 2024. Admittedly, it’s quite long, but as long as the studio takes the time to do things right!

Remember, however, that our hunger for steampunk and unfair parallel worlds could be quenched thanks to the Netflix film, announced a little ago more than a year. Still no news on this side, but we keep hope; after all, that’s all we have left…
