The Night of Museums (Ndm) of Lausanne and Pully returns next Saturday September 23 for a 22nd edition. Twenty-six museums will keep their doors open all night, some until two in the morning.

To enable visitors to find their way around, the organizers have put together thematic routes. Twenty itineraries are thus offered with titles like “A wild night”, “The world of tomorrow”, “Ilico presto” or even “A wolf’s hunger”. A brief quiz has also been developed to help those who are undecided find their ideal route.

This year, three new museums joined the event. These are the Naturéum, born from the merger of the Botanical Garden and the Zoology and Geology Museums, the EPFL Pavilions, dedicated to the dialogue between science and art, and La Muette – literary spaces, the new museum dedicated to Ramuz in Pully. It will also officially open its doors during Museum Night.

“Literary Lotto”

In their press release, the organizers present some “highlights” to come. The Olympic Museum will, for example, offer a musical discovery of the history of running, from ancient Greece to the present day. At the Collection de l’Art Brut, it will be possible to create talismans from recycled materials and inspired by the works of Michel Nedjar.

A “literary lottery”, guided by comedian Yann Marguet, will be offered continuously at La Muette. Among the many other proposals, it will be possible to embark on a treasure hunt at the Espace des inventions or to investigate Egyptian mythology at the Roman Museum.

A digital dance show, in which the dancers’ movements are captured in Geneva, will be screened at EPFL Pavilions. The Naturéum tropical greenhouse announces a “sound, visual and olfactory journey to the tropics”. At the Bolo Museum, challenges can be launched on game consoles and retro computers.

“After” at Rasude

Entrance to Museum Night costs 10 francs. It is free for children under 16. Special bus lines will serve partner museums free of charge, while PubliBike makes its fleet of bicycles available thanks to a promotional code.

This year again, the event has set up actions aimed at all audiences, for example for non-speaking people or those with disabilities.

Finally, note that the traditional museum “After” will take place at La Rasude from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., east of Lausanne station. In the form of a “silent disco”, the teams from the different museum institutions will turn into DJs for one night.

Last year, Museum Night brought together around 15,000 people. These had accumulated 50,000 visits.
