The Ombudsman’s Office intervenes so that a Neuquén school starts its classes

A few days before the start of the new school year, Thousands of students from the west of the capital will not be able to start classes because their school is disabled. Because of this, teachers and family members requested the intervention of the Ombudsman. From the school establishment they informed what are the next meetings that they will hold this week.

He Cpem 40 It is located in the west of the city of Neuquén, on Las Gaviotas and Diego Pizarro streets. This establishment works with an annex, due to the number of students, located more than fifteen blocks on Casimiro Gómez and Almonacid streets.

Last Friday, relatives of students together with teachers met with Ricardo Riva, the Ombudsman, to request their intervention since the start of classes for these students is concerned “because the school is not enabled” as indicated on their website.

They detailed that, for this reason, more than 1,200 students will not be able to start the school year. Riva promised to accompany the claim and take whatever steps are within his reach in order to find a solution through dialogue.

A few days ago, the families of the students spoke on Channel 7 and expressed their sadness at learning that their children will not be able to start the school year like every year. The mother of one of them explained that the school is disabled and that “they just started to put some sticks.” Despite this, she expressed that “we are tired of being promised things like managers”

Building problems and lack of start of work

The reasons why these students will not be able to start classes this week is due to several building problems that the school has. In addition, it has a closure by the Provincial Council of Education, as stated by the Ombudsman.

This school suffered several vandalizations during the school break. First, part of the ceiling in the men’s restroom fell due to the fact that the water tanks had significant leaks and overflowed. A week later, a Peugeot 504 in which about five drunken young people were circulating crashed into the front where the annex works, destroying a fence, window and the front made with cement blocks.

At that time, the director of the school, Analía Galván, warned that in these conditions the taking of exams, which was to begin on February 10, was not guaranteed, nor was the start of classes.

In addition, in the meeting they held with Riva, they indicated that the building that the CPE had committed to enable due to the missing classrooms, not started yet. From the social networks of Cpem 40, they reported that this Monday they will maintain a unified day and on Tuesday they will have a meeting at 6:00 p.m. at primary school 295.
