A restaurant can also restore, in the sense of repairing, people by giving them a second chance. Many places like this social restaurant exist in Belgium, where solidarity is still a key word. There we train adults from all four corners of the world to work together, use simple movements, restructure themselves. At Les Uns et les Autres we prepare meals for anyone who wants, everyone is welcome.

Here we collect locally, but also from the food bank or the donation exchange. No complicated gastronomic creations, we train in the oldest profession in the world. The service is friendly, sometimes clumsy, but always imbued with the desire to do well. In cooking, we keep it simple and create a common culture among the students. And it works! What an atmosphere, what warmth! For that alone I would go back. I ate a cod that was perfectly cooked, seasoned just right.

A starter, a main course, a dessert, a drink for around fifteen euros. Don’t see any unfair competition for the sector, but rather a pool of talent. In this strange world, willpower serves as a diploma far more often than all the pieces of paper in the world.
