Panathinaikos – PAS Giannena and Eleftheria Moschato – Niki Lefkada are the semi-finals, the grand final on Sunday
Four excellent teams with 48 talented athletes meet at the 3rd Closed Ano Liosion (Zofrias) with the aim of winning the 26th Women’s Basketball Cup which takes place from March 24th to 26th. With one voice, female athletes from all four teams ask the world to come to Zofria and support the sport that is intertwined with great successes of Greek sports. “You will not regret it“, as Lilianna Karakasidou, athlete of Eleftheria Moschatou, reports to OPAP, while Georgia Damoulaki of Niki Lefkada adds that “it’s an opportunity to highlight women’s Sports, as women’s basketball is unfair».
From PAS Ioannina, Katerina Marini adds a different aspect, saying that “we would like to see many children in the stands, because basketball is developed by the new generation». As for Panathinaikos, Eleanna Christinaki gave her own message, stressing that she would like the team’s fans to be at the stadium because “he is always our 6th player.”
The dynamics of the teams according to the athletes
Endurance and resilience, freedom of play through overlaps and cooperation, competitiveness, speed and teamwork are just some of the elements that the four teams that will take part in the Final 4 have and want to take to the court. “We don’t rely so much on set-plays, but we have clear principles in our game” says Katerina Marini ahead of the match against Panathinaikos. Eleanna Christinaki emphasizes that “regardless of the opponent, we are competitive and always fight for victory, to give joy to the world of Panathinaikos”. In the fact that “for 40 minutes our pace is steady” Lilianna Karakasidou stands for the biggest advantage of her own team, while Georgia Damoulaki adds that “we play fast and team basketball, which makes it quite difficult for our opponents».

Enthusiasm for participating in the Final 4 is the dominant feeling that prevails in all four participating teams. All gymnasts stand on this parameter and on the fact that they can claim a title that will go down in history. The first scheduled match takes place on Friday at 17:00 between Panathinaikos and PAS Ioannina. At 20:00, Eleftheria Moschatos faces Niki Lefkada. The grand final will take place on Sunday at 14:00 to find out the team that will succeed Olympiakos at the highest level of the competition.
