The city of Le Port inaugurated on Saturday July 9 the rehabilitation of the Parc Boisé “Laurent Vergès”. This inauguration is the first stage of the “Green Thread” project which aims to establish a green connection linking the Port to Mafate to the coast. A result after an investment of 3.5 million euros and 18 months of work.
Covering an area of 17 hectares, the wooded park now has more than 2,200 trees from 150 species. The site now has a waterfall, a large central body of water and two islets. Athletes can practice on the kilometer of pedestrian path or that of the cycle path.
The area is secured with the installation of gates and the hiring of 10 agents in permanent contact with the Police.
