The Pentagon: Russia’s victory in the Ukrainian conflict will cost the United States unimaginably high prices

Washington – US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that Russia’s victory in the Ukrainian conflict will cost Washington a heavy price, claiming that Moscow may not stop at Ukraine despite the Kremlin’s constant denial of this.

“There is no compelling reason to believe that an emboldened Putin will stop at Ukraine, which could mean unimaginably high costs for the United States,” Austin said during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing.

He added: “The price of Washington’s current support for Ukraine remains much lower than the price of giving up on Kiev,” claiming that the matter “is not only related to the issue of Ukraine’s survival, but also related to the security of the United States,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had explained, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, in detail that Moscow would not attack NATO countries, and that this had no meaning for Russia, and pointed out that Western politicians regularly intimidated their people with an imaginary Russian threat in order to divert attention. About internal problems, but “intelligent people understand very well that this is an imaginary threat.”

Putin added that Western countries have begun to realize that a strategic defeat of Russia on the battlefield with Ukraine is impossible, so they must think about their next steps, while Russia is ready for dialogue.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine.
President Vladimir Putin stressed that its goal is to protect people who were subjected to persecution and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years, disarm and eliminate the Nazi trend in Ukraine, and bring to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass, noting that That the special operation was a coercive measure, leaving Russia no other opportunity.
