Last week, the Joint Operations Command in Iraq launched the third phase of the “Waad al-Haq” operations, in order to pursue the remnants of the banned terrorist organization “ISIS.”

The third phase of operations began in Salah al-Din and Kirkuk, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

A statement by the command stated, “In conjunction with the currently ongoing operations in the Diyala and Wadi al-Tharthar operations sectors in Salah al-Din, at this stage, which achieved fruitful results, by destroying the enemy’s hideouts, hideouts, weapons, equipment, and various equipment, and also witnessed precise air strikes, the last of which occurred after midnight last Saturday, Two terrorist detachments were killed. Under the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and under the supervision and planning of the Joint Operations Command, the units of the Operations Commands of Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, and eastern Salah al-Din (Al-Touz) launched, at dawn today, Sunday, the third phase of the “Waad al-Haq” operations in Salah al-Din and Kirkuk.”

The statement added, “These broad operations come in accordance with accurate intelligence information, the field presence of the various security forces, their heroic drive, and their insistence on pursuing all the defeated, failed terrorist detachments, and with the support of the air force, army aviation, and some security and support agencies and departments.”

In December 2017, after about 4 years of confrontation with the terrorist organization ISIS, Iraq announced the liberation of its entire territory from the organization, as the terrorist organization controlled about a third of the country’s territory.

After eliminating the terrorist organization ISIS, the Iraqi security authorities are struggling to eliminate its remnants in the cities of Nineveh, Kirkuk, Diyala, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and the outskirts of Baghdad.
