The Polisario and Algeria fear that the incidents that occurred on April 1 in the “Dakhla camp” will spill over into the other gatherings of Sahrawis settled on Algerian territory. The two parties carried out arrests in the ranks of Sahrawi activists, informs the Tindouf Autonomy Support Forum (FORSATIN). This campaign aims to “hide the crimes committed by the Polisario militias”, indicates the same source.
“The direct intervention of the Algerian army reflects a feeling of unease among the soldiers in Algiers; the control of the situation has escaped the leadership of the Polisario while the protest is brewing,” says FORSATIN.
After the fire of the headquarters of its gendarmerie located at the “Dakhla camp”, the separatist movement mobilized its forces. “Reinforcements from the Polisario militias have arrived and deployed in the area,” said the Sahrawi Movement for Peace (MSP) in a statement.
