The poll of the day | Richard Hétu’s blog

A solid majority of Americans support Congress passing a federal law legalizing abortion, according to a survey published by CBS this Sunday, two days following the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States to repeal the judgment “Roe v. Wade”. This decision is disapproved by 59% of Americans, while 41% approve of it (among women, the disapproval rate reaches 67%).

The House of Representatives has already passed a bill to enshrine the right to abortion in federal law. On May 11, the same text did not even win a simple majority in the Senate during an initial vote intended to overcome the obstacle of 60 votes, known as filibuster. All Democrats supported the bill except West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin.
