DEPUTY Chairman of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) Expert Council, Budiman Sudjatmiko, said that the preparation of the cabinet for the elected presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka Presidential Election (Pilpres) is still in the informal discussion stage.
“Just a little discussion, just deliberation,” said Budiman when met at the front gate of Prabowo Subianto’s residence, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/4).
He emphasized that the composition of the cabinet would be Prabowo’s prerogative, which was discussed with Gibran. In this way, currently Prabowo is still exploring information and perspectives from various parties to determine the best cabinet.
Apart from discussing with Gibran, Budiman said that Prabowo would also consult with various parties that support Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election regarding the composition of the cabinet.
On the other hand, he did not deny that there is an opportunity for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to become a special advisor in Prabowo’s cabinet in the future.
“In my opinion, Pak Jokowi has the capacity for this, but later it will come back to Pak Prabowo’s decision,” he said.

Meanwhile, as an expert council, he emphasized that his party was not discussing the composition of Prabowo’s cabinet, but rather the various programs that the Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) would carry out when he becomes president in October 2024 and his cabinet later.
These various programs, he said, are mostly a continuation of President Jokowi’s programs, such as downstreaming, digitalization, decarbonization, optimizing village funds, as well as human resources (HR) which includes the free lunch program.
Apart from that, continued Budiman, there will also be a strengthening of the geopolitical program which will become Prabowo’s hallmark in the next 5 years of government, especially regarding strategies derived from the principle of free and active politics.

“Will we build multiculturalism, how to maintain balance and world peace, and reduce tensions in the Indo-Pacific? That will be Pak Prabowo’s strength,” added Budiman.
Previously, the vice presidential candidate elected for the 2024 presidential election, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, said that Prabowo would determine the composition of his government cabinet, while the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo would provide input.
“Pak Prabowo will decide, yes. Maybe (President Jokowi will give) input, but the decision is up to Mr Prabowo, yes,” said Gibran when met after attending a gathering and breaking the fast together in Kuningan, Jakarta, Monday (25/3).
Although Prabowo determined the composition of the cabinet, he admitted that he would also be involved in discussions to formulate the next government.
“It’s definitely (involved). It’s been a long time since yesterday. It’s been discussed since yesterday,” he added.
