Today, Tuesday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, urged the enactment of laws that secure the lives of people and wheels from traffic accidents..

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: “The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, visited today the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, congratulating the Police Day, where he was received by the Minister of Interior Abd al-Amir al-Shammari and senior leaders and officers in the ministry,” noting that “Rashid He expressed the readiness of the Presidency of the Republic to help facilitate the provision of the ministry’s needs and to cooperate with the House of Representatives or the Council of Ministers to legislate the necessary laws.

During the meeting with the Minister of Interior and senior cadres in the ministry, the President of the Republic expressed his “congratulations and blessings to the officers, ranks and employees of the ministry on the occasion of the Iraqi Police Day,” wishing them “success in performing their national duties.”

He stressed that “the sacrifices made by members of the security forces will remain a record full of heroism and altruism across generations,” noting that “there is a great responsibility that rests with the security forces of the Ministry of Interior in protecting citizens and establishing security and stability in all parts of Iraq, inside cities and on the borders, by combating terrorism and apprehend criminals.

He praised, “the steps that are currently being taken to remove armed manifestations from within the cities and the handover of the security file by the Ministry of the Interior.”

During the meeting, the President of the Republic touched on the work of the traffic police and the conditions of roads in the country, stressing the need to implement traffic laws against violators of drivers who do not adhere to the rules of traffic regulations and speed limits, especially on main roads, as well as severe accountability for the crime of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs and other matters. prohibited, to protect people’s lives and property.

He pointed out that “the time has come to legislate insurance laws for people’s lives and wheels from traffic accidents, and for it to be mandatory, since these laws will solve many of the problems that citizens face due to accidents.”

In the same context, Rashid stressed “the need for coordination between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Construction and Housing to improve roads and equip them in a way that helps reduce traffic accidents,” pointing out “his admiration for the development in infrastructure in this aspect, which he saw during his visit to the governorates of Basra and Nineveh.”

For his part, Interior Minister Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari expressed his “thanks and gratitude for the president’s visit and his congratulations on the occasion of Police Day and his directives to enhance the security of citizens and their property.” The ministry has direct contact with the lives of citizens.

Al-Shammari pointed to “the obstacles faced by the ministry and its needs to strengthen public security inside cities and on the borders.”
