The international hamburger star, who has become the face of the American giant McDonald’s, will not cost you the same amount depending on the city in which you buy it. The price of the famous Big Mac also varies from one restaurant to another within the same city. Thus, the price of the fast-food brand’s flagship product varies from 4.45 euros to just under 7 euros in France. The reason: each of the 1,500 McDonald’s that dot the French territory can freely set its prices “according to its size, its location, the competition or its attendance”, explains the management of McDonald’s France.
On average, the price of the Big Mac is around 5.40 euros throughout France. However, in certain cities, the price is more advantageous according to a survey by the newspaper Le Parisien: in Marseille, the burger costs around 5 euros, while it costs 5.30 euros in Lille and 6 euros in Bordeaux. However, as said above, within the same city the price of the Big Mac also changes from one restaurant to another. If we look at the specific case of certain urban areas, the differences are sometimes dizzying. For example, in Paris, it is possible to find a Big Mac for 4.60 euros and just a few kilometers away, in another McDonald’s, the price of the burger rises to 6.70 euros.
In detail, the most expensive Big Mac in France is found in a McDonald’s in Dijon, where you will have to pay 6.90 euros to taste the famous hamburger. On the Belfort side the price remains very high, compared to the rest of France, since the Big Mac costs 6.80 euros. On the other side of the spectrum, the cheapest Big Mac in France can be found at McDonalds in Vincennes, Val de Marne, and costs 4.45 euros. Other restaurants also display particularly low prices. This is particularly the case in the Île-de-France region in the McDonald’s of Morangis and Chambly which offer the Big Mac at 4.55 euros.
