The PROGT and the Zéphyr soon to be closed for work until February 2023

From November 14 to February 1, 2023, the Palais Régional Omnisport Georges Théolade in Matoury and the Zéphyr, in Cayenne, will close their doors to the public. Work will be carried out there by the Territorial Collectivity of French Guiana.

They will make new skins. As part of security work planned by the French Guiana Territorial Collectivity, the Zéphyr hall and the large hall of the Palais Régional Omnisport Georges Théolade will be closed from November 14, 2022 to February 1, 2023.

With regard to the Matoury PROGT, the works planned are: the repair of the sports floor and the lighting of the sports hall. For the Zéphyr, in Cayenne, the community intends to replace the roofing of the premises, i.e. the roof and the cladding of the premises. “Fixing elements are planned as well as the printing of a new sign“, adds the CTG in its press release.

The community intends improve local sports practice et “the attractiveness for the preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games of high-level athletes, concerning the PROGT“. This work will also allow “securing the premises and improving the reception of cultural actors and the public“, indicates the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana.

For the work of the PROGT, 80% of the costs come from a grant of 280,000 euros obtained within the framework of Paris 2024. The total estimated cost is 350,000 euros. Finally, the works of the Zéphyr amount to approximately 200,000 eurosthis is CTG’s own funds.
