‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’ is one of the most successful series on Peruvian television, produced in its first seasons by Efraín Aguilar; It is remembered for its charismatic characters.

This is the case of Doña Nelly, played by Irma Maury. The matriarch of the González family was one of the actress’s most memorable roles, however; her abrupt departure and closure of the series was not liked by viewers.

As you remember, the last episode in which Doña Nelly appears is when she dies after finding out that she won the lottery. An unexpected ending for one of the most important characters of ‘AFHS’.

Efraín Aguilar reveals the real reason why Irma Mauri left ‘AFHS’

Efraín Aguilar told the true reasons for Irma Maury’s departure from the series during the interview he gave for the recent edition of ‘Café con la Chevez’, the Trome podcast.

“I have a very special affection for her, she was my student, a very good actress. A year before she left, she told me that she didn’t want to continue because it was too far for her, I gave her a car to go from Ventanilla, they gave her a car because she was invaluable.

Despite the mobility that Efraín gave Maury, she decided to give up the role: “The following year she told me not to count on her, ‘I’m not going to come, I’m already fed up, I’m tired, I prefer my dogs’” .

Finally, Aguilar revealed that he asked her not to leave, but everything was in vain: “I begged her, I told her that I was going to show her once a week and she didn’t want to. I had to talk to Gigio and the public got used to having his photo there.”
