“Italian actors are rebelling against Netflix,” notes “Corriere della Sera,” echoing the fight of the 7607 collective, bringing together more than 3,000 actors, who decided to take the American group to court. A complaint was filed before the Rome court to denounce salaries deemed “insignificant” and to push the streaming giant to grant fairer remuneration.
Among the signatories of the appeal are many big names in transalpine cinema, such as Elio Germano, Claudio Santamaria, Paolo Calabresi and Neri Marcorè, but also foreign actors, such as Charlotte Gainsbourg. “We tried every means possible to negotiate, asking for a percentage of the immense revenue received by Netflix. For him, it represents the cost of telephone bills, but we were offered a lower figure,” assures the president of the 7607 collective, Cinzia Mascoli.
