Game Director Todd Howard is quite famous for his work. From multiple ports of Skyrim to claiming that everything in Fallout 3 is “just working”, the gaming community knows Bethesda Game Studios as a one-trick pony that makes bold claims while rehashing the same old content. Fans must have been relieved when Todd and Bethesda’s development team announced new IPs, including Starfield.

The long-awaited game is currently in development. When is the Starfield release date? As of May 2022, the game is farther away than we expected.

Starfield was first announced at Bethesda’s press conference at E3 in 2018. The upcoming action RPG takes place several light years outside the known solar system in a colony known as “The Settled Systems”. With a history of civil war, two space-traveling factions are currently experiencing an interim period of peace. The player assumes control of a space explorer exploring a settled system.
At the time of writing, there have been no gameplay footage for the game in 4 years of development.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Todd Howard described Starfield very simply as “Skyrim in space.” From that we can at least speculate that the game will be an open exploration game with many missions, enemies and NPCs to interact with.

It’s hard to predict what kind of adventure Starfield will offer without gameplay footage, but it’s exciting to think about what an open world space game from the creators of The Elder Scrolls might look like.
Unfortunately, we are farther away from Starfield’s release than we thought. In May 2022, Bethesda officially announced that the game would be delayed from the fall of 2022 to the first half of 2023. The announcement also mentioned a delay in Redfall, a game being developed by another studio called Arkane Austin.

The game’s first release date was revealed at E3 in 2021. Bethesda provided Starfield with an awe-inspiring teaser (gameplay not shown) that abruptly ended with the dramatic date reveal of November 11, 2022. Following a stunt like that, releasing an acting would be disappointing.
Is ‘Starfield’ coming to PC?
As of this writing, no one knows what the game will look like or when it will actually be released. Fortunately, we at least know what platform it will be on. Starfield is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Although technically not exclusive to consoles, players can only get the game from a limited number of systems.
On the bright side, gamers looking to play Starfield on Xbox will have time to get their hands on the hard-to-find Series X/S before the game launches.
Starfield is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2023.
