The Expert Referee Commission (ESC) under the President of the RFU came to the conclusion that the referee Pavel Kukuyan mistakenly counted Spartak’s goal in the match of the 26th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) against Zenit. About it reported on the RFS website.
The meeting took place on May 7 and ended with the victory of Zenit with a score of 3:2. Petersburg club ahead of schedule secured a victory in the championship of Russia. Before the second goal of Zenit, which was scored by Andrey Mostovoy, Spartak defender Roman Zobnin was pushed in the back by Daler Kuzyaev.
“Most of the commission members believe that VAR, when checking the attacking phase of the Zenit team, should have paid attention to these details and recommended that the referee go to the monitor for a correct assessment of the episode, after which the judge should have canceled the goal of the Spartak team in this boundary episode,” – the message says.

As for another episode of the meeting, which was analyzed by the RFU ESC, the commission came to the conclusion that the referee did not correctly appoint a penalty kick at the Zenit goal in the 38th minute of the match. The decision of the ESC is motivated by the fact that the contact on the part of the Zenit player Renan with the ankle of the Spartak player Keith Balde while trying to block the transfer of the ball by the opponent, according to all members of the commission, was accidental and occurred on the opposite course of movement of the players’ legs.
