The rise in consumer prices is accelerating in Guadeloupe

Prices continue to gallop in Guadeloupe as in France… Over one year, they have increased by almost 4%. INSEE has just published the latest figures.

As in France, the rise in consumer prices is visible in Guadeloupe: +0.6% in April, following +0.4% in March. Over one year, between April 2021 and April 2022, inflation reached 3.8%.

All consumption items are concerned, but it is, of course, energy prices that pull the index the most upwards.

The increase is 17.8% over one year, including almost 13% since February. For petroleum products alone, the increase reached 15.6% over the last 3 months and 22.6% over the year.

But the rise in consumer prices is also accelerating for other goods and services. Over one year, food prices have increased in Guadeloupe by 3.1%, with an acceleration over the last three months.

Ditto for manufactured goods and services, in particular air transport: +6% on average last month.

Figures that confirm a worrying trend.

Only thinning, quite relative, inflation in Guadeloupe is lower than that observed in Martinique, Mayotte and in France.

Guyana and Reunion, on the other hand, are resisting better, for the moment.
