Over 500 FPS in QHD Ultra in Overwatch 2: is it really useful?
Between DDOS attacks, bugs and overloaded servers, Overwatch 2 had a very hectic launch last night (and the effects are still being felt as of this writing). Until you can put your aiming skills to the test, NVIDIA has share the performance of his GeForce RTX 4090 in this game: the new high-end graphics card exceeds the 500 FPS mark, all in QHD and Ultra!

Even if this graphics card is more oriented “content creators” given its price rather than “pure gaming” (unless you have the means), the performance remains interesting. It’s also funny that Blizzard has just pushed the maximum framerate limit in the game’s 3D engine from 400 FPS to 600 FPS. The difference with the RTX 4080 12 GB and 16 GB would have been less noticeable, with these two cards reaching 296 FPS and 368 FPS respectively under the same conditions.
However, we regret that NVIDIA did not include on this same graph the results obtained by other card models between the RTX 3080 and the RTX 4080 12GB, under identical test conditions. By the way, the Blizzard recommended configuration to play at 60 FPS in Full HD is satisfied with a GeForce RTX 1060 or a Radeon R9 380…
By activating the Reflex and Boost modes, NVIDIA also indicates that the latency of the system reaches on average only 8 ms, against 12 ms without Reflex (which is already very honorable). It is moreover on this aspect rather than on the FPS that NVIDIA communicates. After all, who really needs 500fps to game? On the other hand, improving the responsiveness of the entire system can sometimes make the difference between life and death in an FPS, although of course the slowest link will often remain the chair-machine interface.
