The rosary, made of sacred nuts, is thrown on the ground by the Fâ priest, who then interprets the shapes and signs that appear. It is not uncommon in Benin to consult it before a marriage, a birth, or a professional change to decipher the future. Simon consults several times a year.

“The Fâ is really something really important. It’s like an oracle that can predict the future. That way, you will know how to take care, do what it takes to make sure everything goes well in your life. When you go to consult the Fâ and this person gives you explanations, you should be able to find your whole life in what he tells you. »

A Fâ priest must be a sworn initiate, who has received the anointing to question the invisible, explains the president of the National Council of Endogenous Religions of Benin, Professor David Koffi Aza. So to clean up the sector, a census of practitioners of endogenous religions in Benin was launched a few months ago. Operations are currently continuing.

“Today, the Fâ is institutionalized at the national level. So, our leaders should be able to have a valid interface with the Fâ. We want to have a clear file on all the practitioners of the Fâ. There will also be a need to bring out the bad apples to clean up the corporation a little. »

At the national level, a consultation of the Fâ is organized every January, to give the main orientations for the year which begins for Benin.
