“Salt mining has shaped the Salzkammergut for 7,000 years,” says Hans Reschreiter, who, as an archaeologist at the Natural History Museum in Vienna, has been researching the history of salt in the region for years. Now he and his employees want to tell this story virtually for the first time on the occasion of the Capital of Culture 2024. “We want to make this salt landscape and its connections visible,” says the scientist from Russbach.
