At 5:00 p.m., the Cardenal Samoré border crossing decided to close vehicular traffic due to the snowfall that is recorded from kilometer 110 of Route 215, on the Chilean side, to Argentine territory. Pino Hachado, in the north of Neuquén, was also disqualified.

The unforeseen measure affects hundreds of people who this long weekend had chosen to travel to Argentina and especially to Bariloche, attracted by the change. Today there was a special extended schedule to expedite the vehicular flow, which would allow them to travel until 9:00 p.m. (Argentine time).

As reported by the border complex, road crews are working on clearing the snow accumulated, but they rule out the possibility of re-enabling traffic this Saturday.

Tomorrow, Sunday, during opening hours, at 9 a.m. (Argentine time and one hour less in Chile) the situation and the authorization of traffic will be analyzed.

To circulate this long weekend, the border complexes of both countries agreed to extend the hours to improve the flow from Chile to Argentina, for this reason they established more transit hours both before the usual start and later. Today the Samoré was enabled for the passage of Chileans to Argentine territory at 7 in the morning and it was planned to extend the operation until 9:00 p.m.

In the opposite direction, from Argentina to Chile, the usual hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. were maintained.

On Sunday the usual schedule is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (one hour less in Chile) but it will be necessary to wait for the authorities to analyze the conditions of the trace and define the authorization.

In the area of Bariloche and the mountains, there is a snowfall alert for Saturday afternoon and persistent rains of varying intensity have been maintained since Friday.

Pino Hachado was also impassable

The Pino Hachado International Pass, which links the center of the province to Neuquén with Chile, was also closed this Saturday due to weather conditions.

National Highway, reported in the afternoon that National Route No. 242, in the section between customs and the border limit “is impassable due to accumulation of snow”. For this reason the step is “disabled”.

From the agency they asked people who must circulate in the vicinity to respect the signage since there are personnel with teams working on clearing the road.
Before traveling, it is recommended to check the updated status of the routes. Information available on the web
