The October 27 release brings substantial revisions to foundational game systems alongside free wardrobe and building assets. Console players will see the software designated as update 2.40, according to MP1st. Beyond technical repairs, the drop targets long-standing gameplay frustrations, including autonomous behavior quirks at restaurants and frustrating simulation routing failures.
Free Elder Wardrobe Additions and Build Mode Items
Elder Sims receive a dedicated expansion of classic style choices in this update. The free content drop introduces two fresh hairstyles for adults and elders—specifically the Quiff Side Part Hair and Half Down Waves Hair—alongside four primary clothing pieces: a sweater, a lace dress, a sleeveless blouse, and a midi skirt featuring pockets. Five recolors for existing garments round out the wardrobe expansion, including Grandma’s dress, Grandpa’s high jacket, and open and long cardigans. Loose pants also join the pool of recolors. Previously added items in the Sims 4’s August & September 2026 patches span Build Mode, Create-a-Sim clothes, and Create-a-Sim hair.

Build and Buy Mode receives eleven new items tailored for traditional and warm living spaces, accompanied by a pre-made styled room that lets players place the assets immediately. Bathroom accessories such as toilet paper rolls and brush sponges also appear in the Build Mode category of Bathroom > Accents for sorting. For players looking to populate neighborhoods with new faces, four official gallery characters join the roster: Raven Balalrd, Elena Marquez, Daniel Kwon, and Malik Nasir.
Targeting Infinite Loading Screens and Save Corruption
Technical stability forms a core pillar of the October patch, addressing severe issues like infinite loading loops and corrupted save files. Developers tackled a prominent endless loading trigger associated with placing lots while using the Move Objects cheat excessively. To prevent recurrence, Maxis updated the Navmesh routing system to make it significantly more robust against intense object placement.
Players encountering white loading screens on specific rental housing save files will find those barriers removed, though some individual lot details may require rebuilding to function properly.
Autonomous Restaurant Behavior and Refrigerator Tweaks
Restaurant dining experiences receive a comprehensive tuning pass designed to keep hungry patrons focused on food rather than random distractions. While dining out, Sims will no longer spontaneously stand up to give themselves a mirror pep talk, and patrons will stay focused on eating instead of getting sidetracked by N.A.P. tasks. Bartenders who previously stalled out can now properly order food or drinks from bartenders while they are doing something else like socializing or practicing tricks.
Food handling rules also shift in daily gameplay. Sims will no longer put food in inappropriate places in general, including display cases. Infant Sims will now fall asleep properly without needing their energy motive to be very low.
Holistic Muscle and Weight Control Options
Directly reflecting feedback gathered from community Discord developer Q&As, the update introduces new game options to toggle muscle and weight changes holistically across a save, alongside new self-interactions on Sims to toggle these changes for Sims individually. User interface organization receives an extensive tidy-up as well: all previously uncategorized interactions considered self-interactions now sit inside a new Sim Options…
category accessed by clicking on the actively selected Sim. Examples of these interactions include Disable Attraction from Lovestruck, Set Rock Paper Scissors Preference from Adventure Awaits, Utensil Preference from Snowy Escape, and Sim Physique from the Base Game.
Hair and eye color changes in Create-a-Sim will no longer revert when a new full body asset is selected and the apply to all outfits button is pressed. Additionally, overalls can now be applied to all outfit categories including formal, sleepwear, party, swimwear, hot weather, and cold weather. Reborn Sims involving infant models associated with Werewolves will now successfully complete the rebirth process and appear in the selected household or Create-a-Sim, while routing fixes address issues causing Sims to freeze in Life & Death content.
