“The situation is no longer appropriate.” Al-Sisi surprises the Egyptians with the post-2011 losses

Al-Marsad Newspaper: Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi revealed that what happened to Egypt in 2011 cost the country $450 billion.

In a dialogue session on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in the Emirate of Dubai, the Egyptian President affirmed that “every country knows better about the culture and nature of its people, and what is suitable for the specificity of the country cannot be suitable for another country.”

He added, “The rehabilitation of the transport sector in Egypt costs about 2 trillion pounds, and the population in Egypt rose from 80-81 million in 2011 to 105 million people now,” noting that the development of education in Egypt needs 250 billion dollars.

He pointed out that “the Egyptian state’s capabilities need one trillion dollars annually, but that amount is not available, and therefore the solution – in my estimation – lies in ideas and initiatives.”

He continued, “The other challenge facing Egypt was that we live on a narrow strip adjacent to the Nile that extends from Alexandria to Aswan, and that this situation was appropriate during the reign of Muhammad Ali more than 150 years ago, but it is not appropriate at the present time, which posed a challenge.” in urban development in Egypt.
