Today, Thursday, April 4 at 8 pm, the solo painting exhibition of Nikos Nikolaos opens at Polyhedros, which will last until Saturday, April 20.
Nikos Nikolaou was born in Patras and attended painting lessons in the workshop of Spyros Sokaris. He has had a continuous artistic presence since 1985 with individual and participation in group exhibitions. His works are in private collections and in public places inside and outside Greece.
As Mary Sidira notes: “Nikos Nikolaou proves to be an inexhaustible catalyst of his technique, unleashing new references and relationships of things, concepts, narratives, colors and materials. So that, finally, his “box” is delivered, with decimated but completely fresh “pieces and fragments”, “turning blood and roots” to remember Dionysis Savvopoulos, the “lyrical” not of the restoration but of the interpretation and aesthetic reception of it as such.
Not resisting the impulse of the interpretative approach, I observe: The male and female figures of the photographs below hold the fear or the awe that penetrates them from the invincible rhizome of the tree to the box, to life. They may even function as occasions for irony from the Tree which, carrying around the blue sky, grows wild, regardless of the cause of fear or the awe of its boxed recipients, the…..the touch squared like a box miniature”.
