state budget

On July 13, the Council of Ministers approved the amending finance bill for the year 2022. Thus the readjusted State budget, for the year 2022, is stopped in revenue at the sum of 2825 billion CFA francs and in expenditure to the sum of 2049 billion CFA francs.

The 2022 State budget has been readjusted with a view to supporting the recovery and strengthening the resilience of the economy. Fixed at 1925 billion FCFA last year, it rose to 2825 billion, an increase of 46%. « The favorable situation of commodity prices, and the severe global food and energy crises which are weakening the country, following the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, have led the Government to revise the budget assumptions initial proposals and to propose vigorous measures for the resilience of the national economy », indicates the report of the Council of Ministers. The revisions should thus enable the Government to pursue the implementation of targeted budgetary policy measures which relate to the efficiency of collection and the securing of public revenue; the rationalization of public expenditure as well as debt control. Regarding expenditure, the readjusted state budget is set at the sum of 2049 billion FCFA, i.e. a budget surplus of about CFAF 775.8 billion. The deficit is estimated at more than 1183 billion FCFA. These changes include incentive measures to support players in the agro-pastoral and fisheries sectors, as well as the promotion of a policy of substituting imports with local supply, with a view to curbing the induced effects of the world food crisis on basic food prices. The amending finance bill for the year 2022 was presented by the government on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at thehemicycle of the Senate for consideration and adoption. Source: congo metia time
