World Cup slope must be adapted – LH Mikl-Leitner/LH-Deputy. Landbauer: “Ski World Cup on the Zauberberg is of enormous importance for Lower Austria”

St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – According to the international ski association FIS, the panoramic slope at Semmering currently does not meet the requirements for holding a World Cup race. State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and LH Deputy Udo Landbauer assure the representatives of the municipality of Semmering and the organizing association WSV Semmering the necessary support so that the Ski World Cup can take place again this year in the usual manner on the Zauberberg and captivate around 20,000 spectators .

State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasizes: “The Ski World Cup on Semmering is one of the biggest tourist and economic drivers for the region around the Zauberberg. The event generates a total value of around two million euros. The event therefore has incredible value for our federal state, radiates far beyond the borders of Lower Austria and sustainably brings international holiday guests to this beautiful region. For these reasons, the state of Lower Austria will of course continue to be a reliable and strong partner and will provide the best possible support for the necessary adaptations to the World Cup slope.”

LH deputy Udo Landbauer says: “The renovation work will invalidate all of the FIS’s criticisms of the route and the legendary Zauberberg will be given a modern World Cup slope. This means the home races at Semmering are secured. I would like to thank all our partners who are pulling together with us and doing their best to ensure the long-term security of the ski races at Semmering. This home race is always something very special for the spectators and our ÖSV ladies. I hope for the usual strong support from our fans. A red-white-red victory on the new track would be the crowning achievement.”

As part of the adaptations, the upper section of the route will be widened and new high-security networks will be built in places along the route. In addition, the slope inclination is partially adjusted. In some places it is therefore necessary to reposition the floodlight system. Furthermore, a connecting path to the Westhang piste (chairlift) will be built at the level of the slalom start. In addition, the target area will be realigned. In addition, new or improved access routes and areas for the public will be created.
