The weekend that passed was not one more for Ernesto Garcia Maañon. After a busy week of work at the Power of attorney, where he has worked for more than two decades, took the opportunity as always to rest and face routines outside of the analysis of judicial cases and the typical climate of the court. For this reason, among other things, he went to a shooting tournament with one of his custodians and, when he came back, he finished involved in the death of two people that they wanted to assault them.
Maañon is 74 years old and is referred to as a career man within the Judiciary. Currently, she is a member of the Chamber I of the San Isidro Court of Appeals and Guaranteesa position that recently led him to, for example, bring to trial the eight defendants for the murder of Diego Armando Maradonacase in which he intervened for jurisdictional issues.

He headed a court of first instance and then he was a correctional judge until 1998, when the accusatory system was reformed and he became a chambermaid, a position he currently holds. What matters to them is crime preventionand prevention depends on many factors, among them, resocialization because we see that the most serious crimes are all caused by repeat offenders and all of that is a dead letter.”

García Maañón, who is one of the oldest judges in San Isidro, is convinced that “judges often aspire more to be politicians than to be judges”. For this reason, among other issues, he has chosen to keep a low profile, altered only by the episode of insecurity that he starred in in Quilmes over the weekend after returning from a shooting range, when was attacked by a group of 6 or 7 thieves, in a “piranha” robbery attempt.

The magistrate, accompanied by his custody, did not hesitate to take out his weapon to “defend” himself from the robbery. So did his companion. The result was fatal: two teenagers died and one was seriously injured.

As reported, it happened last Saturday around 6:30 p.m. on Cevallos street, between Castelli and Paso, in the southern town of the Buenos Aires suburbs. There were at least five armed criminals who intercepted the vehicle in which the magistrate was traveling along with his security employee. Garcia withdrew from Quilmes Federal Shot heading to the Buenos Aires-La Plata highway when he was rebuked by a group of armed criminals.
One of the assailants, identified as Nicholas Martinez, 18 years old, died at the scene of the confrontation, while another of the same age, Emmanuel Jorge Cartagenawas transferred to the Iriarte Hospital and was admitted, confirming his death during the morning of this Sunday.

The judicial investigation was left in the hands of the prosecutor Martín Conde, of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) No. 3 de Quilmes, while the prosecutor intervened Mary Julia Botassofrom Juvenile Court No. 2 of the same Judicial Department, for the participation of a minor in the case.
