  • “We have identified in the short term a solution that would lead to salary adjustments so that the salary discrepancies between the center and the territory are eliminated. It will be produced in a first stage through a normative act that will be finalized in the following days. Monday at 11.00 we will be at the Ministry of Labor.
  • Considering that from Monday we will work on the text of the draft GEO that provides the solution requested by the pension houses in the territory, the colleagues intend to suspend this protest action until the moment when the commitments made tonight, which I am convinced will be respected, they will become reality.”, Dumitru Costin, the leader of the National Bank of Romania, declared on Wednesday at the end of the Government meeting.

The act will include the restructuring of the Ministry of Labor and these wage corrections and will be adopted by the end of this year.

What salaries do the employees of the retirement homes in the territory have and what increases are promised

The representatives of the pension houses in the territory say that there will be increases between 500 lei and a maximum of 1,500 lei from January 1, 2024.

  • “For a senior inspector with 25 years of experience, there will be a salary increase of 1,500 lei net, from January 1, 2024. Such an inspector currently has 4,800 lei.”, said Paul Ionuț Marinescu, senior inspector of international pensions at the Argeș Pension House.

The increases target a maximum of 3,000 employees.

  • “There won’t be a big budget impact that will create problems, taking into account that the maximum increase will be 1,500 or 2,000 lei. We are a maximum of 3,000 employees within the territorial pension houses.
  • Probably the minimum increase will be 500, 600 or 700 lei. At the territorial pension houses, a person with higher education and 2 years of experience has a salary of 3,000 lei, almost the minimum salary in the economy.”, said Cristina Ștefan, legal advisor at the Argeș County Pension House.

The representatives of the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) discussed, on Wednesday, with the Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura Oprescu, about the claims of the employees of the Pension Houses, where there are salary differences of up to 1,500 lei between employees who do the same work.

The trade unionists also drew attention to the need for investments in the pension system, since “the calculation is still done with a pen in 2023”, according to News.ro.
