And because the film was shown in the official competition for the first session of the Cairo International Film Festival, and it was received excellently by international critics, this made the censorship of works tend to allow a show, and indeed the censorship agreed to show the film, which happened on 9/23/1976 in addition to showing it. in several Arab capitals.
After the film was shown, the Egyptian People’s Assembly received many letters from Egyptians working abroad, calling for taking a position on the movie “The Sinners” because it offends them in the countries in which they work, because of what it carries of exposing the deviations of Egyptian society and the corruption of many of its segments.. The Assembly referred these letters to the Minister of Information and Culture At that time, “Dr. Jamal Al-Atifi” to take the necessary measures. So, he decided to stop showing the film and transfer its entire censorship file to the Administrative Prosecution to punish the agency. Scenes, movements and expressions of sexual significance, banning dance scenes, not showing crimes of revenge and taking revenge, not showing suicide, not showing social problems in a way that calls for despair among the masses. As for the oversight body, its head, “Etidal Mumtaz,” was referred to the pension and transferred, along with 14 others from the body, to the Supreme Disciplinary Court on charges of gross breach of job duties.
