Bigger AAAs for Sega?
With the name “Super Game” in the singular, we wondered, for example, if it concerned a single game or several upcoming titles. And it is indeed a whole series of games in question:
« Sega offers a wide range of content around games, including arcade hardware and content, which is made possible by its diverse range of technologies. We have defined “Super Game” as being the development of AAA titles that cover the full technological range of SEGAand we will strive to achieve this goal in our five-year plan. […] Several titles are being developed as part of “Super Game”, and while each title will vary, there is no doubt that they will be interactive titles beyond the traditional framework of games. For example, in the past, people who played games were called gamers, but now watching games has become a culture in itself, and such people can no longer be called gamers. I think there is great potential in the relationship between people who play and watch games. »
It is therefore necessary to store current AAA projects under the “Super Game” label at Sega. And for a AAA game to fall into this category, Shuji Utsumi explains that it must be cross-platform, localized in several languages, and released simultaneously all over the world.
And when mention is made here of the games ” going beyond the traditional framework ”, it is obviously necessary to think of the NFT. With its mark Sega NFT, the publisher intends to enter the market, despite some fears. Obviously, Masayoshi Kikuchi, producer at Sega, thinks that NFTs are a ” natural extension » for video games:
