“The Surprising Dangers of the New Car Smell: Learn About the Cancer Risk in Your Vehicle”

Many people do not hide their love for the smell of the new car, as it is distinctive, and quickly disappears within weeks, but a recent medical study warned of the dangers of this smell, which increases the risk of malignant disease.

According to the study published in the journal “Cell Reports Physical Science”, which specializes in scientific affairs, the chemical components present in the smell of the new car make the person who rides the vehicle more likely to develop cancer.

The study on the smell of the new car was conducted by researchers at Harvard University and others from the Beijing Institute of Technology in China.

During the experiment, the researchers monitored air sensors installed in new cars to detect various chemicals over a 12-day period.

The researchers made sure to close the cars tightly during the experiment period, and those vehicles were parked in different positions and environments.

The results showed that the new cars contain a percentage of “formaldehyde” of 34.9 percent, which is much higher than the safe levels set by the Chinese authorities, for example.

Data from the US Environmental Protection Agency indicate that this organic compound, which is widely found in new cars, may be a cause of cancer.

Another chemical compound known as “acetal aldehyde” was detected by 60.5 percent inside new cars, a level that also exceeds safe standards.

And since the person driving the car inhales this new smell in the car, especially in hot weather, there is a higher risk of cancer.

Experts recommend that car windows be opened during this period in order to reduce the concentration of odor, while they hope that these results will help those who design the interior of the vehicle, in order to avoid harmful components to health.
