Al-Marsad Newspaper: A recent study revealed a surprise about the type of soap used and its relationship to attracting mosquitoes and other annoying insects to your body.
And the new study stated that the fragrances mixed in the soap may make you a more attractive target, as mosquitoes prefer the scent of those who washed with three out of four popular brands of soap tested.
The scientists who conducted the study said that the mosquitoes may be attracted to the soap because when it is not feeding on blood, it complements the intake of sugar with the plant’s nectar.
“It would be like waking up and smelling something that looked like coffee and cake together. Very attractive,” said Clement Fenuegger, who led the work at Virginia Tech and the state university.
The study found that Dove, Dial, and Simple Truth soaps attract mosquitoes to some, while Native soaps repel mosquitoes, because they contain coconut, which is a natural mosquito deterrent.
