“Unfortunately, I can confirm an incident at a primary school,” said Education Director Isabella Penz on Friday in response to an APA request for a corresponding report in the “Kleine Zeitung”. The facts will also be sent to the public prosecutor.
Several children came forward
According to the newspaper report, the incident occurred at the end of April. The teacher pushed a boy so hard that the first grader fell from his chair to the floor. She then hit him on the head with her slippers. Several students and even a teacher witnessed the incident, and the teacher eventually reported it to the school administration. After the attack became public, more children came forward.
She is said to have pinched one girl’s upper arm and pulled another’s hair. According to the children, sentences like “You are a brainless Assi child” or “You are fat, your mother is lazy and therefore you have no money” were said. The teacher herself denies the allegations and says they are baseless accusations made by children. The presumption of innocence applies to them.
“Legal legal steps and dismissal procedures were initiated immediately,” said the education director. The incident is being dealt with “in close cooperation with the school management at the school location” and the children in the affected class are being supported educationally and psychologically.
