The teachers’ demonstration will “not be prevented” by the police headquarters

The demonstration of teachers scheduled for Thursday in the capital “will not be prevented” by the prefect of police of Paris, despite the late filing of the declaration by the unions, learned Agence France-Presse (AFP) from police sources on Wednesday January 19.

In a letter addressed to trade unions and of which AFP was aware, the prefect, Didier Lallement, wrote that he did not“will not prevent” the course of this event. He insists he doesn’t have it “not prohibited” but that he could not deliver “a receipt” without breaking the law. The Paris police chief also reminds the organizers “than by breaking the law” they “commit [leur] liability, in particular criminal”.

The teachers’ unions wrote to Prime Minister Jean Castex on Wednesday asking him to intervene with the prefect of police. They argued that, “in practice, the prefecture very frequently accepts late filings”.
