The established annual blood drive organized for the last five years by the Municipality of Patras in memory of the great paternal composer Thanos Mikroutsikos started at 10.00 am on Monday April 1st in Georgiou Square in Patras.
The mobile blood collection unit today, Monday April 1st, will be in Georgiou Square until 1.00 in the afternoon. On Tuesday 2 April from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The blood drive will end on Wednesday, April 3, with blood draws from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The goal again this year is to strengthen voluntary blood donation and an important social good such as blood to be given without conditions and conditions to our fellow human beings who need it.
The blood drive is organized by the vice-mayor of Culture and Planning of the Municipality of Patreon and the vice-mayor of Health Welfare, in collaboration with the family of Thanos Mikroutsikos, the National Blood Donation Center, the Blood Donation Unit of the University Regional Hospital of Rio and will last until Wednesday, April 3.
The Municipality of Patras, his family, the National Blood Donation Center and the Blood Collection Unit of the University Regional Hospital of Rio, invite citizens to actively participate by donating blood for anyone and everyone who needs it.
At the mobile blood collection unit early in the morning of Monday (today), April 1st, the deputy mayor of Culture and Planning Apostolis Aggelis and the deputy mayor of Health – Welfare Vivian Samouri were present.
The deputy mayor of Culture in his statements emphasized that “This year, as in the last five years, the municipality of Patras, honoring the memory of Thanos Mikroutsikos, is organizing a three-day blood drive, calling on citizens to contribute in order to cover the great needs that exist. For the municipality of Patras and the vice-mayor of culture, the issue is not raising the awareness of our fellow citizens for these three days only, but for every day of the year. Don’t forget that culture is also solidarity for our fellow man. So we are here for Thanos and every Thanos in need.’
For her part, Mrs. Samouri pointed out that “For another year in memory of the great paternal composer Thanos Mikroutsikos, with the aim of strengthening voluntary blood donation, so that blood, as a basic component of life, can be offered at any time to anyone who needs it , the municipality of Patras organizes a three-day blood drive. We invite everyone to participate.”
