We knew that Nothing was working on a brand new transparent smartphone that was more “premium” than its predecessor, and the manufacturer has now just revealed more about the launch period of the device.
After a successful Nothing Phone (1), some Android smartphone users looking for an atypical smartphone eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new device. Carl Pei’s company has been teasing a new, more “premium” iteration for several months now, meaning that it will not be a direct successor to the first generation Phone (1).
Indiscretions from Qualcomm had revealed that the Nothing Phone (2) would be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, not Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. If it really is not a high-end smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2) should still offer enough power for the majority of users. However, this choice of processor will probably lead mainly with a size advantage: quite aggressive pricing.
The Nothing Phone (2) is coming in just a few months
On social networks, Nothing finally indicated that the launch of the Phone (2) would take place this summer, that is to say almost a year after the release of the Phone (1). Moreover, the new smartphone had already appeared with several certification bodies, which already confirmed the imminent arrival of the device on the market.
A release in the summer of 2023 will probably allow the Nothing Phone (2) to be placed directly against Samsung’s next Galaxy S23 FE, which should also offer an interesting price/quality ratio. It now remains to be seen what Nothing has in store for us on this brand new device, which also looks transparent.
The company has already released a preview of the smartphone on its official website. The image only reveals a very small part of the rear face, but we already notice a red LED that will light up especially when capturing videos, a white LED strip for the manufacturer’s Glyph system as well as a “switch”. We do not know if it is placed under the glass slab, or if it will be accessible like the one found on iPhones or OnePlus smartphones. We will of course keep you informed as soon as we know more.
